how fast is to fast in a bass boat?
ByQuestion by Dylan: how quick is to quickly in a bass boat?
sunday me and my dad went fishing and we had a tom tom with us on the boat to see how rapidly we were going due to the fact the speedometer don’t work… nicely we got a 21ft procraft 210 super pro with a 225 pro xs mercury on it and we gpsed it at 72 with the reside properly full (50 gals) with at least 15 pounds of fish in them half a tank of gas (49 gal tank) and loaded down with about 20 poles and all types of baits… is that too quickly for a bass boat like that?
the max hp on the boat is rated for 250 but the 225 mercury pro sx is is in fact turning about 250 hp at the prop and the 250 pro sx is turning about 275 hp we also have modest 175 pro with a 125 mercury (max hp for it) it ran 58 gpsed

You want to speak to the corporation that manufactured the hull (boat) and ask what the ‘hull rating’ is. The maker will tell you what kind of speed the hull is intended to endure.
Your largest concern is handling a boat at that speed. They are less difficult to flip than you assume. Mine has a 12ยบ pitch (comparatively flat) but cross some chop at 45 to 50 mph and you better be great.

Depends on the condition of the waves, wind, loading, and water conditions.
I’ve seen boats going 10 mph on Lake Erie that were unsafe and too fast.
